  1. Centralization versus decentralization to impact society huh. Well, after reading on the meanings I would say I lean toward decentralization more than centralization, but both I would say are still options in some areas. For instance if a new technology company is just starting to getting up and running a centralized management would be more ideal for a company getting going. Extreme organization would be Vidal for the begging process, it would keep a clear focus on what needs to be done to set their image.

Decentralization i would say is the new revolutionary thing in companies. The more people you have implying to the same thing, the more creative and new ideas can emerge. Two heads are always better than one, but all the companies head played into proper action would have that many more opportunities to prosper. The more man power the more productive people are. One person didn’t event the internet or the computer. Like all things there is usually one or two main people of the creation but a long line of credits always come into play. No one can do great things without the help of other people. Without other people implying to a technology breakthrough you’re just a person with a good idea. People not being too independent and working together would have such an enormous impact but we don’t even know it.

  2. As long as there are people who cant afford technology in our society I feel that the impact of technology on our society will always be centralized. Money being the CEO of our society, makes all the decisions on what will happen in our society. For example look at one of the brightest people perhaps of all time Steve Jobs, the creator of Apple.

Instead of being born in one of the most technologically advanced cities in California what if Steve would have been born on the same day in Allen, South Dakota (the poorest place in the United States), Steve Jobs would have never even gotten the chance to own a cell phone let a lone create the most used tool through out the world today. Tying this back in to centralization of technology on our society. Some less fortunate people are being limited or not having a say in the decisions because of how expensive our technology.

  3. After getting a better understanding of what centralization and decentralization are,I would say I would go with decentalization more than centralization. I would also say that decentralization is the new "thing" in companies. With more people being able to state their opinions, more ideas are brought to the table. With centralization, power is in the hands of a few. With that being so, decisions are made by only a few. I feel that both centralization and decentralization have both good and bad qualitties.

I feel that centralization and decentralization come into play with technology because there will always be a demand for technology for the most part. Those who can't afford technology, don't have much of a say in products or prices.

  4. Today's world is all about decision making. With the availability of technology, we should be geared more towards a decentralized society. Skills are distributed throughout many individuals and no two are alike, so why is the majority centralized? There may be fewer challenges in our current time, but those challenges we are faced with come at a much greater cause. We need to be4 decentralized, to work together, creatively as one.

In a way, I feel as if society in like a complex piece of technology. For example, a computer. Some components may be smaller than others, perform less task, or more easily made. However, each is just as important as the next. Because without all of them, the system as a whole is completely useless. To improve our technology, we need to think like technology. We are well on our way to becoming a more decentralized society, however, for us as a whole to fully perform, we need to put aside our greed and work together.

  5. When it comes to centralization vs decentralization I think it’s pretty clear on which is the most efficient and calculated option, especially if you relate that to technology in current times. What comes to mind mostly with centralization is small companies, your local mom and pop stores that you can only find in your little town. Though with decentralization I think of large companies with many different leaders working towards a common goal. Applying that to technology and the impact it has on our society as a whole, you can apply it to so many different aspects and planes. Whether it’s marketing certain products, the different platforms, or the quick uprising of it in our everyday lives. As you said, it can be applied to a myriad of things.

Technology is pretty much everywhere you look, it’s a global force much like the faces behind our most popular platforms such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. You see very few technological products that are centralized and the ones that are usually can’t be named off the top of your head. But all technology starts off that way and slowly grows in a positive way, some entering against the top competitors, just as the companies behind them do.

Technology is constantly growing and gaining more branches, all trying to become more one of a kind than the last in it’s own personal evolution that hits our world on a global scale. The demand for technology is ever increasing, everyone wants the newest item. Companies are pairing up and looking for new people to inspire new products and ideas.

It’s difficult to think of technology as a whole as anything other than decentralized.

  6. I'm really not seeing a connection between centralization/decentralization and technology in society outside of the companies producing them. I am drawing a blank as far as new ideas. It's not even that I don't understand the concepts, they're pretty straight forward. Centralization centralizes the power to a single person or group or people; whereas, decentraliztion spreads the power out.

I really just don't see how this applies to technology outside of who is making decisions for the companies. I could write two paraghraphs about that, but that is just rewriting what the author of your article said and I don't think that is right. I stil wrote my opinion on this subject and included how it can relate to technology. So, hopefully I still get credit for this assignment. :)

  7. As I read the article about Centralization vs Decentralization, I began to think about how each can be viewed as either good or bad in the field of technology. Each have their pros and cons, yet there is one that I think is more suitable for the technology field.

Decentralized companies that deal with technology I feel are more successful. With more than one individual running the show, there is a group of them that can all pitch into one or many ideas, that can eventually lead into something a lot great than that of a centralized company. However, I do think that a centralized government is important to have in the beginning. When first starting off a technological company, I think that it would be good to have one individual who is extremely knowledgeable about the field. On the other hand, that one person in charge can be a lot less knowledgeable about the field whereas a under employee may know a lot more, that in my mind can lead to a downfall of the company, especially if the head guy is unwilling to negotiate...so that is where I think centralization is less productive than that of a decentralized company. I also think that as we progress more as a society, we are leaning more towards a decentralized way of doing things.

  8. After reading this article on centralization vs. decentralization, I would say centralization is how our society really is. When starting out as a new technology company, centralization is the best option because it helps get the company going and help them get a feel of what they are getting into. Centralized is good but it can only last so long in order keep up with other business who are big money makers.

Decentralization would come later on after the technology companies have been in the business world for some time because having more than a few opinions will help think of new ideas that would be beneficial to the company. People these days strive for new technology everyday and having a decentralized company will have more buyers coming their way and help think of new ideas faster.

  9. It seems to me that decentralization is the way to go with today's large and locally owned businesses. It's just a great way to get employee's input. For example, I worked in a coal mine this summer and we had to pour a bunch of cement for a belt transfer. The direct foreman I was working under was told we would be given this specific duty, so he came up with a plan for the cement. When the cement arrived all of the regular hands started suggesting an altered plan. We had one guy that had done cement for many years before going to the mine, so the foreman took his advice and made a few adjustments to the plan. When we were finished the mine manager came to take a look at our cement job, and he was greatly impressed with how well it turned out.

When it comes to technology I think decentralization is a great idea. People that use these products enough know exactly how things work, and they know what kind of advancments might have made their product that much better.

  10. After reading the article given, I have a grasp on the differences between centralized versus decentralized. However, I'm not quite sure how to tie it in with technology. If I had to make a connection, I'd say that technology has made our society a lot more decentralized. Before all of the technology came out, your television basically told you everything you thought you needed to know. In the present day, we are more decentralized.

Think about how much access we have when we use the internet. We are all using an example by blogging right now. With these blogs people can get their opinion out and it is actually being seen by people all over the world. There are some blogs on the internet that have been seen by millions of people and that is amazing due to the fact that without technology, none of those people would have seen that blog. One person's opinion can change millions of others. We get our ideas and opinions out there and the common people actually have a little bit of say. If we all don't like a product, that company is going to listen to the customers and try to change that product. I feel that technology has made society much more decentralized than before.

  11. After understanding the meanings more of centralization and decentralization I would lean more to the idea of decentralization. This idea seems to be flourishing in the aspect of more people being able to state their opinions, which in a sense brings out more ideas. Centralization has more of a tighter power where the power lies within fewer people. Decisions are not able to be made by many, but now from few. Both are options that have postivie and negative affects as I can see.

Both ideas will remain as technology has been in high demand and use for quite awhile. The more people then the more ideas can flourish. Not one person creates something completely on their own, they may be more of a leader but outside ideas are always drawn in by others. The main affect on our society regaurding technology that I see is the fact that the less fortunate are limited to the say they have beccause of the high expense of technology.
