The lottery has been altered by the advancing technology very little. Most of the big change has come from higher prices and more lottery sellers. Lottery winners on the other hand, have much more technologically advanced gizmos that they can choose to consume now.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win the lottery I would love it! I wouldn't quit my job or go crazy and see how fast I could spend my millions of dollars. But just having that kind of security, it would be awesome. I wouldn't worry so much about every purchase I made because I'd know that I have millions of dollars to back me up.
The first thing I would do if I were to win the lottery is start splitting up about one quarter of it and start evenly dispersing it throughout the family. After that I'd go buy myself some new toys!
As technology increases, so does lottery winnings. As the article mentioned, the five biggest winnings have happened in the last year and a half. The constant media now days makes it impossible for most people to not know about these outrageous earnings and the "lucky few" who actually win them. Back in the day, if you won the lottery, you would be likely to get a local newspaper article. However, now if you win money like this, the majority of the nation becomes aware ratyher quickly. If I won the lottery, I would feel amazing. After I paid a lot of it to taxes, I would set up a savings account with enough in it to pay for 5 more years of college and living expenses. Then, I would buy my dad and his wife a nice house on the family farm, so they can move out of the shack they have lived in for five years.
ReplyDeleteI think as technology advances, lotteries are gaining more and more money. In past years, lotteries were never as much as 450 million dollars. With increasing tickets costs I think it will just increase the amount of money won. Lottery winners are changing as well. People aren't seeing this as a dream come true when have people following you around nonstop. If I won the lottery, obviously I would be pretty happy but I don't think I would want all the drama that comes with it. The first thing I would do if I won the lottery is probably buy a new vehicle. But overall, I don't want to win the lottery. I haven't ever bought a lottery ticket yet, and I don't feel like I need to.
ReplyDeleteWith the advances in technology, they have been able to have more lottery winners. Along with that, they have made access more easier to purchase a ticket by creating apps for your phones and creating an online payment system using your credit card. I think this could possible draw in more interest if people know they don't have to make a special trip to the gas station to get their lottery ticket. If I won the lottery I would be excited but to me I have never had interest in buying one because I'm not into the whole gambling idea. But if I did, the first thing I would do is give to charity or a family that needs the money more than I do to cover certain costs like medical bills or maybe just food so they can have a decent meal.
ReplyDeleteWhen reading this article, I never really thought there was a bad side of winning the lottery. I always thought you would get your money, spend what you want, and never have to worry about the publicity of it all. With this article it just shows another side to what actually happens when you win. I think that with the advances in technology, more people are just going to but lottery tickets which will only increase the growing amount. It is crazy to think that you can now even by your tickets on your smart phone, when you used to have to get out of the house and go get it. If I were to win the lottery, I would pay off all my schooling and help family members if they ever needed any.
ReplyDeleteLotteries have grown in size as the years go by. The lottery usually never exceeded 100 million now well into the millions coming close to half billion dollars. The reason for this increase relates to a few things. With technology allowing people to be able to purchase lottery tickets straight from your smartphone and credit cards is a major contributor but still the convenient "gas up, go inside to pay and while your at it buy a lottery ticket" is the primary contributor. If I won the lottery I think it would feel simply amazing. The first thing I would do is travel around the world and after I got tired of that, build a nice house somewhere out in the middle of nowhere on a lake property.
ReplyDeleteAs technology advances, the news of a winner is more widespread. Its easy to find someones phone number and their address. Internet stalking, press stalking, and all of the above quickly become a problem. As things get more and more expensive and people struggle to pay their bills, more and more people are playing the lottery to "fix" all of their problems. Although wherever there is a winner, there are people who are jealous and will try to take that away from you.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I no longer play the lottery, if I would've won, from today's perspective, I'm not really sure what I'd do. Giving it all away would probably be the best option, but you know that you'd probably wish you still had some of that money at a later point. Realistically, just like willie, it honestly would be better just to rip up the ticket. And in that case, why even play the lottery. I have more important things to spend my money on than "chances", therefore I do not play the lottery and never again will.
