  1. I think that this is a great idea to prevent obesity and save people money! Another way technology can promote fitness is through different fitness apps and online workout videos that people can do from anywhere.

This isn't really a fitness technology, but this is a look/development in fitness that is helping many people get their exercise in quickly.

  2. I think this is a really cool idea. Instead of paying money, you do exercise for your ticket. This is a great way to get people active, even if it is for a short period of time. Another way that technology promotes fitness is by having the capability to do it from anywhere such as apps on your phone, or Xbox 360 Kinect training.

  3. I think that is a rather interesting way to promote exercise! Over the past ten years I have seen many various ways of trying to promote exercise in our daily lives, but in such a way where it is not called exercise. It seems that we can do exercise without a problem. However when its labeled as exercise, I think we automatically develop a negative mindset towards it.

One thing that has been slowly developing (with little success in my opinion) is trying to implement exercise into video games. Technology such as the Wii and the more recent Microsoft Kinect system. Although the ball in interactive video games is slowly rolling out, I think we will see more creative advances in the technology within the next decade. Things such as the ability to create 3D features and interactive "cyber" worlds.

  4. I think this new way of promoting fitness in order to get your ticket is a very good idea. A lot of people lack getting exercise everyday and this is an easy way to get people active. Another way technology promotes fitness is for example the Wii or Xbox Kinect. These video game systems require you to be active in order for the games to work and to get your best results.

  5. I think that giving someone the option to exercise for their ticket is a genius idea. It was well thought out. 30 squats won't quite do the trick, but you never know when something little like this could cause a snowball effect.

This is an article that talks about fitness apps on phones. Considering that most people in this day and age have smart phones, fitness apps seem ideal for getting the common American motivated.

  7. I think this is a very creative and fun idea to not only help promote the upcoming Olympics, but also to prevent obesity. It also saves the individual money. This form of technology gets people to be active and doing a little exercise even if it is only 30 sit-ups or squats. Other technology advancements that have affected fitness that I have noticed are all the apps that you can get on your phone that can allow you to workout just about anywhere and even follow a diet plan. Another advancement that I found to be really cool was the Nike fitness band, which is a device that monitors any amount of activities you do throughout the day. This band also can give out motivation as you are working out to push out the next few minutes or seconds to complete your workout.

  8. Although, I think that this a good idea in theory; a person needs to do more than thirty squats to become fit. I get that they are just trying to promote health, but the squats just seem like an inconvienence to me.

My Fitness Pal is a mobile app designed to let people count calories and track their diets. Studies show that people who actually track their calories are twice as likely to lost weight than those who do not keep track of what they eat.

  9. I think this is such a great idea, defiantly one of the more creative ways to promote exercise that I have ever seen. My only question is how many tickets did they give out?
There is one way that technology has promoted fitness that stands out in my head; in the mall back in where I am from there was these screens that were on the floor displaying bubbles and when kids would step on the bubbles they would pop. I cant tell you how many kids were laughing and smiling and SWEATING while doing it.
