Black, Small, Cyber, Giving

What comes to mind when you read the 4 words in the title?  There is actually a correlation between all these words!  Read the following articles.  What trends do you notice? What do these trends say about the current economy and society in general?  Did you participate in any of these events?  What are your thoughts on all of this craziness?

  1. Trends that are seen throughout these articles are that a lot of people these past couple of years would rather online shop for the holidays than go to the store. This means Cyber Monday is even bigger because it draws so many more people with the amazing, low prices websites mark their items to. I, once in awhile will go Black Friday shopping with my mom to get in on all the craziness and try to find good deals but sometimes I would just rather stay at home and go a day when I know it won't be terribly busy. It amazes me how into it some people really are. When they go Black Friday shopping or participate in Cyber Monday, they are serious about getting what they need to done and they won't let anyone get in the way.

  2. Each of these small four words each take part in one whole. The correlation between the words are Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I noticed that the sales of online shopping between Black Friday and Cyber Monday have risen dramatically in just a matter of a few years. People are really no longer taking the time to go to the store to social or even buy their gifts anymore. I would say that these trends just emphasize how our society is moving forward in the technology field. That we no longer really rely on face to face interactions but social media ones. I do participate in these events but not to the extremes of most people. I enjoy my shopping but I do so by actually going to the story and getting what I need. I think that it is crazy that people go nuts after Thanksgiving when Black Friday and Cyber Monday hit. I mean people even accidently kill one another to get what they want and I personally don't think its worth someone's life to get the brand new I pad.

  3. After just reading a tech magazine (whose name I cannot remember) when I read those works I think of streamlined, futuristic-like, high tech box!
What these all have in common just puts out a bigger picture of how large the use of technology is. Considering the not-so-distant recession that seemed to happen yesterday, it’s amazing that people are shopping as much as they are. I found it interesting, but also completely realistic that sales have jumped 9.8 percent, yet the items per person and the average amount spent have both dropped. But that just goes to show that more people are taking advantage of widespread technology and searching for a good deal. Altogether I'd say that while people are still rebounding from the recession they are also being thrifty about what money they do have.
This holiday shopping season and especially this previous one I have lived in remote places where major chain stores aren't present which only causes me to rely more on technology to find myself a better deal on an item of interest.
I think its good the retailers are offering more deals to those who want to buy new things but are careful about their money.

  4. Trends that I have noticed are increases in mobile shopping on more than just Cyber Monday. This trend shows that people really enjoy being able to save without having to go out and get potentially curbstomped for the newest stuff. I participated in black Friday for the first time last year. I think its just sad that people will harm others for material needs. Savages. oooooooh

  5. Well in this day in age it didn’t surprise me that so many people were doing their black Friday shopping online. When I read that their expecting a net worth of 1.5 billion on just cyber Monday it made me think how we are in a recession but yet everyone has money to spend so freely. Technology in our society has come a long way and will become even further involved. Someday people will just be able to open a magazine and pick and choose which products they want and maybe just summit it and wait for your package to arrive. I can say the only thing I’m really going to participate in is cyber Monday maybe giving Tuesday. I know how people can be with trends and most will probably do all of them so they can boast about how they hit every day and found such great deals. As for me I think I’ll just stay in my home and avoid confrontation if I took the last ps4 and some mother just isn’t having it ha. People get real serious about black Friday so I think I’ll just let everyone else enjoy this day.

  6. The four words in the title made me think of Black Friday shopping, and how insanely large it has gotten, and also how crazy it is. The trends are saying that people are using the technology to search, find and purchase products. I personally do not participate on Black Friday because I hate to shop. However, I will need to purchase some holiday gifts here shortly, so I may, or may not, do a little Cyber Monday shopping.

  7. The trends I noticed were that they all were about money. These trends are saying that a lot of shopping is coming from our smartphones and iPads. I have participated in black Friday, a couple of years ago i bought a TV and I have to admit it was probably the best deal I have ever had. I love all the craziness, that is what separates Christmas from all the other holidays. People say it is the "giving season" although I feel that Christmas is more about just money and gifts than being able to see your family and enjoy a meal together.
