Hidden Agendas and Exposed Problems

Go to check out multiple news outlets.  What are you seeing splashed across the homepages regarding Obamacare?  How has technology effected the roll out?  How do the hidden agendas of each news outlet affect their coverage?  What are your thoughts?  Write a brief update of this topic and answer the questions from above!

  1. There are many things being displayed on homepages regarding Obamacare. Many are not happy with it, and all the changes it is bringing forth. Many insurance companies are having to start all over with their planning of how their insurance policy is going to work in order to meet the needs of the requirements under Obamacare. Technology has effected the roll out because the news is always changing. I feel that everyday there is something new about Obamacare and i'm not always sure whether I should believe it or not. I have many thoughts on Obamacare. I think there are many advantages and disadvantages. I like the fact that I am covered with my parent's insurance policy until I am 26. But I don't like the fact that the government is trying to make everyone have this type of policy. There are many ups and downs so I feel that is just something you will have to wait and see how it turns out.

  2. The main topic I'm seeing is that with Obamacare coming around it's booting millions of people from their own healthcare plan. Even tough Obama has said that people can keep their own personal plan instead of switching to his, it's not working. Over 2 million people have received notices in the mail that they can't renew insurance policy. The reason this is happening is because Obamacare forces companies to drop many of their plans because they don't meet the laws 10 minimum standards which include, maternity care, emergency visits, and mental health treatment. Technology has effected the roll out by making it known to everyone what the pros and cons are of Obamacare. As of right now, the status on it isn't hot because it's creating all of these problems. When each news outlet hides hidden agenda it can lead a lot of people to wondering what to believe or whose side they are on. My thoughts are a lot of people are stuck in not knowing what to do because they want to keep their current policy plan but Obamacare is forcing the companies to drop many of their plans because they don't meet standards. It's kinda of a big mess.

  3. Obamacare is being heavily criticized by alot of Americans right now. Everyone is very upset with how the website is being handled, and how often it is not even up and running. Obama promised in October that everyone that had an insurance policy that they liked, they would be able to keep it. And now they are sending cancellation warnings to everyone and people are very ticked about that. Technology is really just keeping everyone up to date. It is just an easy way for people to get informed about what is going on with the roll out right now. Obamacare, in my opinion is unnecessary. It will just be more tax dollars taken out of the working class' wallet.

  4. After a quick check of the headlines from multiple news outlets, Obamacare tends to be the top of the list. Plagued with glitches and bugs, Obama and his plan are receiving vast amounts of unnecessary scrutiny. The main issue here is simply just the website. I honestly don't see what is taking them so long to fix these problems as if it were a site from a top technology company, they would have been fixed right from the begging. And here we are nearly a whole month later and they are still not fixed. Technology may be a key piece of our society, however there are still errors associated with it.

Overall, the whole time browsing these media sites, I have not seen even one that was in Obama's favor. The main problem with media these days is you never know what they aim to accomplish. Whether it be evil or just informative, the media industry has definitely became an untrustworthy industry full of hidden agendas. I may not typically agree with the way Obama goes about with things however he should not be blamed for the faulty site. And even though Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius personally apologized for the failures of the ObamaCare website, the pressure is still on Obama.

  5. When I typed in Obamacare into the Google Database, many different view points and arguments came up about it. Majority of the news articles I read regarding Obamacare was negative, although there is good about it as well. But in this one article I was reading, due to Obamacare, more than 2 million Americans have been told that they can not renew their coverage. What Obamacare offers is also not what everyone necessarily wants to sign up for. I think that with the advancements in technology, people are more aware of what is going on with Obamacare. They get the information quickly and they are able to take sides due to biased opinions of both parties. I think that technology really influences what people think about the whole process. There is always new information regarding Obamacare so it is hard to believe what is true and what is not. I think that there are many advantages of Obamacare as there are disadvantages. I read articles that talk about how Obamacare helps an individual who wasn't able to afford it and I have read articles that talk about how Obamacare is an unnecessary change in healthcare. I do not think that this policy is for everyone so I do not like that the government is making it so we all have to be under it. There are many things that can come out of this and I am really interested in seeing what that might be.

  6. I noticed that the Obamacare website "delayed" a new feature. They were going to allow users to browse premium prices before entering information, however the ability to do this was delayed due to a "website crash". I noticed that multiple news sources were using different points of view in describing what exactly happened. Some websites (supporting democrats) said that it was a technical issue. On the other hand, the republican supportive sites talked about how the premium prices were outrageous and they would have "scared people away" if people were given the ability to see prices before entering information. It's funny to me how many grown men and women still change their opinions so much due to the type of government they believe in.

  7. On the news outlets I found a lot of negativity and criticism coming down on obamacare. Technology has affected the roll out by instantaneously being up on webpages across the world with easy access for the viewers. News outlets all sway different ways but just for an example you have FOX who has always been far right and you have MSNBC who lean left and then CNN who is mostly moderate. They all share the same news but all are different on the way the news is shared. To be honest I feel that I am not nearly educated enough on the topic of Obamacare to really even have thoughts. I know that there are positives and negatives on this health care reform.

  8. Across news sources' websites there are link about Sebebrbebebrbebrbro's (I don't want to look up how to spell her name, it's not that important to me) failure to get healthcare.gov up and running. Although all of these articles have similar headlines, it became pretty evident which sites wanted the act to go through in the first place. Sites that had a liberal view used much less quotes from Republican senators hoping for S's resignation for the site's failure up to this point. On more conservative websites the quotes of Mrs. S were much more chopped in and (ex: She need to fix those horrific, mind controlling "problems". get it?) many more republican senators, especially from Tennessee, were represented.

My thoughts are that it seems impossible to know exactly how a site that would have so much activity is gonna need to be set up, we should give S at least until the end of November when she says the site will be operational before we consider making her resign, and, if we did have her resign, that would be a big step backwards towards the project because you just took away the leader of it? I mean really....double-you tee eff? As far as my thoughts on the whole healthcare mamajama, I think it's good for the people. I was raised in a poor, urban area and many of my best friends and their families are able to get healthcare now because of the act. so whoohoo go them.
